Hounds of Memory
“I let out from Reno, trailed by twenty hounds…”
The old line rolls through my head like a highway sign glimpsed at dusk, a reminder that running has always been both instinct and inheritance. I think now that the hounds were never real enemies. They were my own echoes — guilt, fear, hunger for love, the desperate wish to be seen without being exposed.
